Going under...

Hi there,
It's 07:55
I am sitting on a plane that takes me to Tromsø university hospital to have a surgery. The procedure should be quite standard and I will be sent home in two days if everything goes well. They are going to remove the titanium fixation plate from my spine. This is a long anticipated moment for me and will improve my condition at least a little bit if not more. The plate has kept me from bending my spine in its entire length and also causes me pain as I go about my walking trainings.
So, send all the positive energy and happy thoughts in my direction the next 24 hours  and have no doubt - I always know when someone does that. I will keep you posted with pics and stuff. Stay strong and take care of your bodies!

09:23 update
Took a taxi from the airport to the hospital. I am generally calm, but the thoughts of when I was here the last time start to rise like bubbles from the depths of an ocean. Its slowly ripping open something that I thought was starting to heal inside me as they are going to rip open my skin in a few hours. I am not afraid, I have waited for this since January,  but it's unpleasant to say the least.

11:15 update
The actual surgery will take place tomorrow. Taking some tests and talking to doctors today. My mind was instantly put at ease when the nice ladies (good looking, professional and tender) talked me through the procedure. Exactly the way I remember them the last time through the blizz of morphine when I was here. I also told them that I wanted to take with me the titanium plate and the 8 screws after they are removed. This was also OK they said. I can't admire enough the calming and professional treatment that I have recieved at the Norwegian hospitals. Maybe its because its a University hospital? Anyway- grateful and even a bit joyful.

PS. The surgery will be in full anesthesia so I will not be able to comment or instruct them as I had planned... ☺

Kl 13:43
Have been reading a thriller about the G4S robbery in 2009 in Stockholm. Got checked in to a patient hotel and listened to a guy singing and playing a guitar in the waiting area. There is a beautiful view from the 13th floor of my room. Waiting for a call from a doctor and the anthesiologist to plan my sleep and dream preferences tomorrow.

Kl 18:47
Resting on the 13th floor in a cozy patient hotel called Pingvinen (yes it means exactly that: the penguin). Tomorrow morning I have to show up at the surgical department at 0645. Before that I was told to take a thural shower and wash myself twice with a special antibacterial liquid (photo below). I am nr.2 in tomorrow's operation list which I suppose means that the team is still sharp, so good for me I guess. Thank you for all the good thoughts on Facebook and otherwise. I really sensed them storming in like a fresh ocean breeze today and I felt much better and much more brave and enthusiastic. I will keep you updated in the morning.
